Don't Miss Our January 17th Speaker!

Don't miss speaker next week, January 17! It will be our own Bob Martin!

You’ll learn about the GLOBAL re-VISION Network I started back in 2002. It continues to this day, thanks in great measure to substantial support from our Club’s Foundation.

Since our first clinic opened in 2007, and at no cost to them, we’ve enabled between 100,000 and 200,000 people in the U.S., Mexico, and Haiti to regain clear eyesight. Our amazing technology makes it possible to accurately determine-and-fill eyeglasses prescriptions using donated, recycled eyeglasses in just a few minutes per patient.

I will talk about the enormous and unmet “need” for eyeglasses around the world. The statistics will surprise you! When I spoke to the club several years ago, I wanted to try and validate those statistics and invited Dr. Mary Frances Cotch, Chief of the Epidemiology Branch of the National Eye Institute at NIH to attend. After the meeting, she and I talked for a long time. What she said really surprised me!

She agreed with me that the estimated size of the world’s vision impairment problems (called uncorrected refractive errors) likely is 4 to 13 TIMES GREATER than organizations like the World Health Organization and others estimate it to be! The need for eyeglasses and corrected vision is a global public health problem of which few are aware. And, GLOBAL re-VISION is "fixing" it so easily! I'll show you how!

I hope you'll attend ... and since this is a project supported by our Club...please bring a friend and show'em what Rotarians do!

Bob Martin
